Pup-A-Palooza Returning to the Heights
Circa Real Estate is excited to announce that we will be hosting two separate Pup-A-Palooza events in the coming weeks. Attend on October 1st from 11 AM – 3 PM or on November 5th from 11 AM – 3 PM to spend some time with delightful dogs and check out merchandise crafted by local businesses. Since animal rescues will also be joining us, you may even be able to bring a hopeful pup to its new forever home.
Come check it out in the Heights at 350 West 19th Street, Suite D. And of course, four-legged friends are welcome!
Who to Expect and When
You don’t need to own a dog to have a blast at Pup-A-Palooza. Many past visitors have come just to love on some animals and marvel at the creative goods sold. That said, if there is a dog in your life who you’re looking to gain favor with, you will have plenty of goods to choose from. Rescues will also be present for those looking to adopt or just get some quality pets in.
The vendors and organizations we’ll be hosting know how to make tails wag. Here’s who to keep an eye out for:
Briggs ‘n’ Wiggles
Briggs is one of the most stylish dogs we’ve ever met!
Briggs ‘n’ Wiggles has wowed Houstonians with the brand’s inventive collars. Each one securely holds a reversible bandana so that you can keep your pup’s style fresh. And if you’ve ever tried dressing your dog up, you know how important comfort is in the clothing actually staying on. These bandanas don’t need to be tied and comfortably rest on the shoulder, so you won’t have to keep adjusting them every time your dog moves an inch. This is a huge benefit to those who have active pups. Other wares, such as handmade genuine leather and reflective collars, will also be for sale.
Curious about the business’ name? Keep your eyes peeled for Briggs ‘n’ Wiggles’ namesake, Briggs. He’s an adorable foster fail with a funky mohawk. When his owner saw how much joy her homemade bandanas gave other people (which in turn made Briggs wiggle his butt in excitement), she knew she had to share what she’d created.
Check out their online store for a peek at some of what you might find at Pup-A-Palooza on October 1st and November 5th.
Yale Street Dog House and Bakery
“Mom, can I have some?” is what we imagine was being said in front of Yale Street Dog House’s booth.
Make room for snacking, because our friends at Yale Street Dog House will be stopping by with a ton of all-natural goodies made for pets. In case you’re unfamiliar with this Yale Street business, it typically offers daycare, boarding, grooming services, and treats like custom pup cakes that make its canine customers howl for more. Seriously – these are not the pet bakery items you’d find in a department store.
If your dog’s claws need a trim, let Yale Street Dog House help you out during the event on October 1st and November 5th.
BARC
BARC’s mobile adoption vehicle draws quite the attention. One of the pups inside could be your fur-ever family!
BARC saves lives. As the official animal shelter of Houston, it is responsible for taking in up to 25,000 animals a year. In August of 2022, it took in over 1,000 dogs and nearly 600 cats. Unfortunately, pet rescue is a mission that never ceases. There is always an animal in need. As dog lovers, Circa is so happy to be able to host BARC and its mobile adoption vehicle to help match animals up with the wonderful families they deserve.
During past Pup-A-Palooza events, we had the pleasure of witnessing the moment several pups met their forever families. It’s truly special. If you’re looking to add a pet to the family, remember that BARC will be in the Heights for Pup-A-Palooza on October 1st and November 5th.
Animal Justice League
Animal Justice League rescues and cares for homeless dogs and cats, provides funds for veterinary care, fosters and adopts out pets, and educates the public about animal care. The organization is 100% run by volunteers and relies on the community for successful operation. AJL has some great dogs they’d love to find homes for, and many of them will be at Pup-A-Palooza.
Animal Justice League will attend Pup-A-Palooza on November 5th, so if you’d like to speak with both visiting shelters and greet the dogs they bring, remember to head on over to the Heights the first Saturday in November.
Destiny
My own pup, Destiny, stole my heart from the moment I met her. Although owning a pet is certainly a responsibility that every owner ought to be prepared for, there is never a dull moment when Destiny is around, and the responsibility is well worth it. She brings warmth and excitement to every day, and that inspires me to do the same. Without Friends for Life, I would have never been introduced to this barking ball of joy.
In case you’re not familiar with Friends for Life, it is a Houston-based shelter that utilizes the no-kill method to rescue animals. This means that no matter the age, breed, or condition of the animal (with some exceptions for animals in grave health), the organization will continue to provide care and do its best to find the pet a loving home.
There were an estimated one million homeless animals in the City of Houston in 2017. Animal rescue organizations take these animals off the street and provide them a future. These animals are given a second chance at life, and for all of the incredible work rescues do, we are grateful for their efforts.
Save the Dates
We can’t wait to see you on October 1st and November 5th from 11 AM to 3 PM! Remember to bring cash, and feel free to leash up your pup and bring him or her with you. If you hope to adopt, you may want to bring the rest of your human household too. If you’re hungry after attending, there are plenty of great restaurants on 19th Street, including Harold’s Restaurant right next door. Save the dates, and we’ll see you then!
