Holiday Happy Hours in the Heights
If it’s high time to enjoy a holiday happy hour in the Heights, you’ve got plenty of options. While some of these names may be familiar to you, others may be brand new. Here’s the inside scoop on what to expect at these local bars and restaurants!
Savoir
Savoir on Yale Street is an excellent choice for those looking to have a drink with a delicious New American meal. In fact, Savoir features one of the most expansive wine menus in Houston. Whether you enjoy a glass every now and then or you consider yourself a wine expert, there is something for you here. You can take a sip of far more than just wine at this restaurant, though. Its list of spirits and cocktails is truly impressive, and you’re unlikely to find many of these drinks elsewhere.
The industrial-chic restaurant focuses on cooking from scratch with frequent seasonal changes that enable diners to taste only the best produce and ingredients sourced from local vendors and farmers. To start, you can select from a variety of appetizers like upscale salads, meatballs, braised pork belly, a cheese and meat board, curly fries seasoned with parmesan, truffle, and aioli, and more. The pasta here is incredible, and the pizzas do not disappoint either. Entrees also include dishes like duck risotto, pork chops, lamb, trout, scallops, ribeye, and a variety of other meat and seafood favorites.
If you’d rather go to brunch, Savoir is sure to whip up something delectable! As of Fall 2021, menu items include pumpkin spice pancakes, braised brisket hash, avocado toast, salmon, a brie burger, southern croque, quiche, and several other tasty choices. Order a mimosa or mocktail with your meal if you’d like to make brunch boozy!

Field & Tides Restaurant & Bar
This Heights bistro with indoor and outdoor seating is known for its locally-sourced Southern fare and seriously awesome cocktails. The menu reflects Executive Chef Travis Lenig’s love for a variety of cuisines including Southern, Italian, French, and Asian. Sound eclectic? It is! And because ingredients are purchased locally whenever possible, customers enjoy only the freshest meals. The restaurant’s dedication to high-quality ingredients is actually where its name comes from: “Field” represents local meat and vegetables, and “Tides” stems from seafood sourced from the Gulf.
The upscale-casual restaurant serves lunch and dinner every day, and diners have the opportunity to chow down on a sweet or savory brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Some menu options, like the oyster caesar salad, “Sloppy Tides” sandwich, and Kentucky Colonel sandwich are only available on the lunch menu. Likewise, the dinner menu has its own exclusive selections. You’ll have to show up at the right time to enjoy blackened redfish, boneless beef rib, or halibut!
