Fantastic Father’s Day Activities
Spend some fantastic quality time with Dad this Father’s Day, June 19th! Whether he likes being active, getting creative, sipping on beer and making conversation, eating a mouthwatering meal, or relaxing without a worry, your dad is sure to enjoy one of these activities.
Breweries
Saint Arnold’s Beer Garden and Restaurant
For a bite to eat and a tasty brew, take Dad to Saint Arnold’s Beer Garden and Restaurant at 2000 Lyons Avenue. Its menu is fairly large with selections like French fries, steak frites, fish and chips, burgers and sandwiches, pizza, salad, and dessert. There are even kid-friendly meals, so the whole family can come along!
Adults can pair their dishes with wine, cider, whiskey, beer, and other alcoholic beverages. Saint Arnold’s offers a ton of options! If you’re looking to try something new, order one of the brewery’s refreshing seasonal beers.
The brewery is open from Sunday to Thursday from 11 AM to 10 PM (the kitchen closes at 9 PM), and from Friday to Saturday from 11 AM to 11 PM (the kitchen closes at 10 PM). You can also enjoy curbside pickup every day from 11 AM to 8 PM for beer and a meal to go.
Karbach Pub and Biergarten
Is Dad a Karbach fan? Take him out for a cold one at Karbach Pub and Biergarten on Karbach Street. Make a meal out of it by ordering from the restaurant’s famous menu of appetizers, pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. The Everything Pretzel with beer cheese is a popular choice for obvious reasons. Like Saint Arnold’s, Karbach offers a kid-friendly menu so that everyone can join in the fun.
Visit Karbach’s website to check out its hours and full menu.
Elder Son Brewing Company
If you’re ready to try a new brewery, Elder Son Brewing is one to know – and it’s located right in the Heights! Most of Elder Son’s beers lean toward the dark side, but guests can choose something lighter. Have a brew indoors, or sit outside at the brewery’s cozy patio area. If whether permits, bring your pup! The brewery is dog-friendly.
Check out Elder Son Brewing Company at 946 North Shepherd Drive. It’s open Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 9 PM, from 12 PM to 9 PM on Saturdays, and from 12 PM to 7 PM every Sunday.
New Magnolia Brewing Company
For craft beer in a chic industrial setting, head on over to New Magnolia Brewing Company on Bevis Street in Shady Acres. The brewery opened in November of 2019 just prior to the start of the coronavirus pandemic and only recently celebrated its opening amongst other new breweries and cideries like Paradigm Brewing, Elder Son Brewing, City Orchard, Fass Brewing, Frost Town Brewing, True Anomaly Brewing, and Vallensons’ Brewing. When you purchase a beverage from one of these businesses, you’re not just celebrating Dad – you’re celebrating small business, resilience, and Houston pride.
New Magnolia is dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and offers a large menu. Choose from more than 15 light ales, wines, IPAs, and ciders, or order New Magnolia’s award-winning Czech Amber Lager. You might even be able to catch a food truck and make a meal out of your trip!

Get Active
Axe Throwing at BATL Houston Heights
Sure, you’ve done the usual on previous Father’s Days, but have you ever gone axe throwing? Head over to West 20th Street to engage in some hair-raising competition. The venue offers free coaching and a quick practice session so you can make the most out of your time and stay safe while having fun. Free throw, or play a game! Will you take it easy on Dad to celebrate Father’s Day, or will you bring all your trash-talking fury to the competition? These games rarely go how you think they will, and that’s half the fun.
If you need a little liquid courage before picking up your axe, know that there’s a bar on-site. Axe throwing can make anyone work up an appetite, and BATL Houston Heights has partnered with King’s BierHaus to energize guests so that they hit all the bullseyes.

Pedego’s electric bikes are perfect to use to explore the Heights Hike and Bike Trail and nearby areas. You’ll be able to see so much more than you would on foot and in less time!
Chill Out
Manready Mercantile
Head to Manready Mercantile on West 19th Street to give Dad a shopping spree day, or reserve some time to craft custom candles together. Dad will love the bonding time and the opportunity to produce something he can enjoy for years to come.
Manready specializes in products for men, including masculine self-care products, so it’s a great place to take your father. For once, he gets to be the shopper and not just the one carrying all the bags!
If you’d rather just purchase Dad a gift, think about getting a Paint Can Candle. The design is unforgettable, and the scents are unique.
Cryotherapy at Treadwell Grooming and Wellness
We’re sure Dad appreciates referrals to your hairdresser or wellness practitioner, but there’s a good chance he’d like a different experience. Located at 600 North Shepherd Drive, Treadwell Grooming and Wellness combines the warmth of a spa with the communal comfort of a barbershop to create a perfectly welcoming environment for men. The Heights-based business provides robust services ranging from hair grooming to performance injections and cryotherapy. These hard-to-find specialty services will make Dad look and feel great in no time! Schedule a trip together, or purchase a gift card to treat him to a relaxation day.
Have a blast making new memories with Dad this Father’s Day!
